Looking for Alaska
John Green · 2005 · read · ★★★★

I was in someone else’s house and I discovered this book. I imagined myself as a fast reader so started reading right away. But sadly I was not able to complete the book in 3 hours that I had. After reaching home I ordered the book. 2 days I waited in agony. I wanted to know all the mysteries of Alaska. I wanted to know how much Miles knew about people’s last words. I also went old style and dug in the Oxford dictionary for meaning of Labyrinth. I am still confused about the context. The book is beautiful. It is classic John Green book. There is no damsel in distress. The guy needs to loosen up and savour his life. The characters behaved more or less like teenagers. The nickname-game was strong in this book. Everyone had a nickname. I liked this book but… I can’t say what comes after but. It will spoil the book. I really admire Green’s work, in every sphere, his book writing, his youtube channel, his collaboration with his brother, everything! I felt each word uttered by Alaska. Even though they didn’t make sense sometimes. I loved Alaska for her love of books and how beautiful she was. I loved how poetic Miles was. “..if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane.” how poetic!
I wanted more of “Colonel’s” prank. I also wanted a different ending, and I am still not over it. I will quote once more “That didn’t happen, of course. Things never happened the way I imagined them.” At last, after reading the book all I care about is my last word so Miles can remember it. And they will be…
